Julian Riou BENSON is a member of that family, formerly of Lutwyche Hall, Shropshire, for which, see the 1969 edition of Burke's Landed Gentry. Mr Benson's great-great grandparents were Moses George BENSON (20 I 1797 - 11 IV 1871) and his wife (married 11 IV 1826), Charlotte Riou (1801 - 1875), only daughter and heiress of Colonel Lyde BROWNE (died 23 VII 1803) by his wife (married 1799) Dorothy (1764 - ?), only surviving daughter and heiress of Colonel Stephen RIOU (1720 - ?). It was through that connection that Riou became an often used christian name in the Benson family.

Per Burke's Family Index, the Walker, later Hill-Walker, family of Maunby Hall, North Yorkshire, does not seem to have ever appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry, but some information about them can be found on the Find a Grave website, in particular. Thomas Stubbs WALKER (4 XII 1804 - 26 III 1847) married Eleanora WASTELL (1812 - 24 XII 1838), and they had two children, Thomas Stubbs WALKER (1838 - 11 I 1878) and Frances Miriam WALKER (1835 - 30 IV 1904).

Thomas Stubbs WALKER (1838 - 11 I 1878) was married secondly, in 1867, to Mary Anna ("Marianna") (23 VI 1842 - 5 XI 1903), the daughter of Laurence OLIPHANT (22 VI 1791 - 29 V 1862), 8th of Condie and 30th Chief of Clan Oliphant, MP (Whig) for Perth from 1832 to 1837 (see Burke's Landed Gentry Scotland); and their daughter was Muriel Lilias Oliphant WALKER (1876 -1953).

Frances Miriam WALKER (1835 - 30 IV 1904) was married in 1858 to Thomas HILL (1822 - 5 XI 1899), the first Chief Constable of the North Riding Constabulary and former Captain of the North York Militia. Their elder son, Major Alan Richard HILL, VC (12 VII 1859 - 21 IV 1944), in 1902 married his first cousin, Muriel Lilias Oliphant WALKER, and after their marriage they assumed the surname of HILL-WALKER. Their elder son was Lt Col Gerald Alan HILL-WALKER (4 I 1903 - 6 XII 1980), who in in 1937 married Jean Elspeth BRYDONE (13 VI 1909 - 3 IV 1979); they were the parents of Lilias J HILL-WALKER.

With regard to Miss Boycott, the electoral register of 2002-03 and 2013-17, per 192.com at https://www.192.com/atoz/people/boycott/michelle/, shows her living at an address in Banbury, Oxfordshire, with Peter Michael Boycott (her father), Marie-Michelle Lilian Pilar Boycott (her mother, presumably), James W Boycott (her brother) and Rosalind E M Boycott (her elder sister). The announcement of Rosalind's engagement seven years ago (see http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/engagements/175477/mr-m.l.-staples-and-miss-r.e.m.-boycott) serves to corroborate this.

Peter Michael BOYCOTT (10 VIII 1944 - 7 I 2014) was the second child of John Michael BOYCOTT (24 IV 1915 - 22 VIII 1987) by his marriage (registered Q1 1940 - Chelsea) to Elizabeth Maud EDGAR (1916/17 - 14 III 2004). He and his eldest brother Commander Timothy Harold ("Tim") BOYCOTT OBE, RN (1 II 1943 - 8 XII 2013) both lost their lives to pancreatic cancer. Page 13 of the Petraen (Spring 2015) at https://www.pet.cam.ac.uk/sites/default/files/E-newsletter%20Spring%202015.pdf has a photograph of Peter's children with Timothy's stepson when they took part in the London Marathon in April 2015 in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK.

John Michael BOYCOTT was the son of Harold Charlton BOYCOTT (1877 - 21 III 1918) and his wife (married 11 VI 1907, as her first husband) Rosamund Ellice Hilton GREEN (1885 - ?). Harold Charlton Boycott played cricket for Northamptonshire and was also a member of the English hockey team for several years. He died of wounds received in the First World War, and the following is his entry from “Record of service of solicitors and articled clerks with His Majesty's forces, 1914-1919”:

"HAROLD CHARLTON BOYCOTT

Admitted Oct. 1898, Solicitor to the Northampton Brewery Co. and also practising at Northampton. Joined March 29, 1916, as Private, 28th Batt. County of London Regt. (Artists Rifles). Received commission as 2nd Lieut. Coldstream Guards Aug. 4, 1916. Went to France Jan. 1917, appointed Asst. Adjutant to C.R.E. Guards Division, Nov. 1917, promoted Lieut. Feb. 1918. Killed in action March 21, 1918. Buried at Arras."

Rosamund Ellice Hilton GREEN was the youngest of the nine children of Henry Hilton GREEN, JP, DL (21 IV 1839 - 11 VIII 1915), High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 1890. They were of the Green family formerly of Felmersham Grange, Bedfordshire, which, per Burke's Family Index, last appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry in the 1937 edition.
