From the Telegraph of 4 April 2024: CHRISTIAN Elizabeth Iola Scott passed away at St Richard's Hospital on 18th March. Beloved widow of Ewan and much loved mother and grandmother. Memorial Mass will be held at The Sacred Heart Church, Angel Street, Petworth, West Sussex at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday 18th April. No flowers please but donations may be sent c/o W. Bryder, Tillington, Petworth… in aid of Riding for the Disabled or Macmillan Cancer Support.

She was d of Cdr William Scott THOMAS DSC RN of Findon, Sussex. She m 1962 Maj Ewan Loder 1936-2010 s of S/Ldr George Maitland CHRISTIAN RAF 1902-91 scion of that gentry family f/o Milntown & Ewanrigg (as well 3xgt gs of 6^th Earl of LAUDERDALE 1688-1744, etc), and Barbara Ellaline Joy 1908-74 d of Maj Basil Charles Robert LODER 1885-1934 (gs of Sir Robert LODER 1^st Bt 1823-88) and Katie Blanche 1886-1957 d of William George DAVIES 1855-1909 (block & mast maker) of Pembrokeshire and Dinah MORGAN 1854-, and had issue:

1. Andrew Fletcher b 1964 reg Q3 E Sussex: m 2000 reg Q3 W Sussex Hassina KHADDAR b c1967, and had issue:

1.1 Scott Fletcher b 2001 reg Q3 Haywards Heath

The late Mrs Christian was born in 1940. The elder of her two brothers was Adm Sir (William) Richard Scott THOMAS, KCB, KCVO, OBE (22 III 1932 - 13 XII 1998), Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod from 1992 to 1995; the younger was Lt-Cdr Simon Scott THOMAS (3 II 1935 - 17 III 1966), the father of the actresses Dame Kristin Ann Scott THOMAS, DBE (born 24 V 1960) and Serena Harriet Scott THOMAS (born 21 IX 1961).
