Brandram/Warhurst engagement

The engagement was announced 14 March, 2009, between Richard Paul
George Andrew Brandram (born 1 Apr, 1948), only son of the late Maj
Richard Campbell Andrew Brandram (1911-94), by his late wife Her Royal
Highness Princess Katherine of Greece & Denmark (1913- ), and Mrs
Kate H. Warhurst, former wife of _____Warhurst, and younger daughter
of the late Mr Thomas Moreton and Mrs Thomas Moreton.

It is Mr Brandram's 2nd marriage. He married in 1975, Jennifer Diane
Steele, by whom he has issue. Mr Brandram is a grandson maternally of
Constantine I, King of Greece, by his wife Princess Sophie of Prussia,
dau of Frederick III, German Emperor, by his wife Victoria, Princess
Royal of the United Kingdom, eldest child of HM Queen Victoria.

Mr Brandram's mother Lady Katherine Brandram, died 2 October 2007,
aged 94.

Mr Brandram is the head of the LG family Brandram formerly of Bickley.
The Duke of Edinburgh is his godfather. His first marriage was
attended by the Duke & Duchess of Kent (the late Princess Marina was
another godparent) and Lady Helen Windsor was a bridesmaid. The former
King Constantine of Greece was best man. Mr Brandram and his son
Nicholas George b 1982 and 2 daus Sophie Eila b 1981 and Alexia
Katherine b 1985 (all unmarried) are in the line of succession to the
British throne by virtue of their descent from Queen Victoria's eldest
dau. The Princess Royal & Empress Friedrich of Germany.
His late father the Major impaled his arms with those of the royal
house of Greece & Denmark for his wife. They were married in April
1947 and the Princess took the decision to formally change her rank
and style to that of a dau. of a duke which took effect under a Royal
Warrant of King George VI dated 25 Aug 1947.
I met the Brandrams in the 90s at their home by the Thames, Marlow,
Buckinghamshire. It had by that time become quite ramshackle. Lady K
had absolutely no pretensions to grandeur. She explained her decision
to ditch the royal handle was in order to be on a more equal footing
with her husband and children.

The Duke of Edinburgh attended a memorial service for Lady Katherine
Brandram, Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark, held Nov 13, 2007,
in the cathedral of St Sophia, London W2. The Prince of Wales was
represented by Sir Stephen Lamport. Prince Michael of Kent attended.

Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain officiated. Among
others present were: Mr Paul Brandram (son), Miss Sophie Brandram,
Lieutenant Nicholas Brandram, Miss Alexia Brandram (grandchildren),
King Constantine, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, Mrs N. Heffer, Mr
Richard Dunn, Mrs Kate Warhurst with Mr Henry Warhurst and other
members of the family.

Crown Prince Pavlos and Prince Nikolaos, Princess Theodora, Sir David
Dain, (chairman, Anglo Hellenic League), Sir Mark Garthwaite, the Hon
Rupert Carington, Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Blaker, Mr Kenneth Rose,
Mrs G. Vagliano, Mrs Jackie Morgan, Mr Costas Strongylos with many
other friends.

_.Paul Brandram's fiance here (now wife) is the former Katherine H. Moreton (born 1954), daughter of Thomas Moreton by his wife the former Effie M Richmond. She married 1stly, 1975, John C. Warhurst, by whom she had issue, a son Henry John C. Warhurst, born in 1984.
