From the Daily Telegraph 28 May 2019 - CHAMPION DE CRESPIGNY Alexander Frank Stephen (known as Stephen) passed away on 18th May 2019, aged 88. He was the much loved father of Alexander and Liz, grandfather of Adele, Thierry, Alex & Caroline, & long term dear friend of Tanya. The funeral will be at St Deny's Church, Kelmarsh on 18th June 2019 at 12pm, followed by a private committal at Kettering Crematorium. Refreshments after will be at Kelmarsh Hall.

He was the son of George Arthur Oscar Champion de Crespigny (1894-1962) and Sioned Cordel Gladys (1901- ?) dau of Henry BATH and Kathleen Mary O'Colagam LLOYD

I believe from previous posts on this forum that the Champions de Crespigny are or were an LG family.  I assume a branch of the same family were Baronets (cr 1805 ext 1952) of Champion Lodge Surrrey

Hello Colin, the Champion de Crespigny family appear in BLG 1969 (sadly I don't own this volume and am attempting to wrangle Google Books into showing what I want to see...); the head is Charles Leonard Champion de Crespigny, 'of Westbury-on-Trym, Glos., s. his kinsman Sir Vivian Tyrell Champion de Crespigny, 8th and last Bt as senior representative of the family 1952'.

A little online searching shows Charles Leonard Champion de Crespigny (1898-1977) to be s. of Charles Stanley C. de C. (1848-) and Emily Haddon. Charles Stanley C. de C. was son of Charles John C. de C. (1814-1880) and Emma Margaret Smith; Charles John C. de C. was eldest s. of Charles Fox C. de C. (1785-) and Eliza Julia, dau. of John Trent, of Dillington House, Somerset.

Charles Fox C. de C. was fourth son of Philip C. de C. (-1803), King's Proctor, M.P. for Aldeburgh, Suffolk. It was Philip's elder brother, Claude, that was created Baronet in 1805. Both were sons of Philip Champion de Crespigny, of Champion Lodge, Camberwell, Proctor of the Courts of Admiralty and Arches. For further ancestry BP 1878 p. 334 can be viewed here: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=YyJNAQAAMAAJ&q=Champion#v=snippet&q=Champion&f=false

The Australian branch of the family, to which some notable individuals belong, descends from Charles Fox C. de C.'s third son, Philip Robert (1817-1889); more details of them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._T._C._de_Crespigny

Sorry, meant to add- George Arthur Oscar Champion de Crespigny (1894-1962), as mentioned in the first post, was s. of George Harrison C. de C. (1863-1945) and Gwendoline Blanche Clarke Thornhill. He was s. of George Blicke C. de C. (1815-1893), second son of Charles Fox C. de C. (1785-1875) and brother to Charles John and Philip Robert C. de C. as mentioned in my previous post.

[Edited to correct omission of George Harrison C. de C.]

I believe she died on 20 March 2017:

Even though she re-married to a HORLEY in 1997, she still used her maiden name as a Director in Companies House where the DoB is listed as June 1937 (which fits).

Thanks Henry . This baronetcy will therefore disappear from the next edition (although Debretts don’t seem to have been aware of the death when the latest edition went to publication)
