I can appreciate that that the Seymours are descended from Henry
VIII's brother-in-law Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, but how
are they "descended from the Marquesses of Hertford, the Dukes of
Somerset and ultimately from Henry VII....."?

N.B. No criticism of Richard R; just 'The Telegraph'

Typical sloppy journalism these days. Wouldn't have happened when the
late Hugh Montgomery-Massingberd was the Obits ed at the Telegraph.

Looking at Burke's I calculate that the late Mr Seymour is 5
generations
in descent from the 1st Marquess of Hertford & his wife the former
Lady Isabella FitzRoy (See Grafton D).
Mr Seymour has a line of descent from Charles II here and subsequently
from Henry VII.

1st Marquess = Lady Isabella FitzRoy
/
Lord George Seymour (7th son)
b 1763
/
George Hamilton Seymour
b 1797
/
George Evelyn Seymour
b 1848
/
Sir Reginald Henry Seymour
b 1878
/
George Raymond Seymour

That's pure fluke on the part of 'The Telegraph'. I would be amazed if
that is the link to Henry VII to which they were referring! I bet they
went back to Jane Seymour and made *that* link with Henry VII.

That said. Well found Michael!!
