From the TImes of 6 May 2023: CHEYNE Mark Rider, died in his sleep on Tuesday 25th April 2023, aged 81. Dearly loved husband of Birdie and survived also by Stanley his faithful canine companion. Service at St Nicholas Church, Chadlington… on Friday 26th May at 11.30 a.m.

He was s of Cdr Archibald Rider CHEYNE 1911-50 (gs of the writer Sir Henry Rider HAGGARD KBE 1856-1925 scion of that gentry family f/o Bradenham) and Marie Louise Baliol 1916-2003 d of Lt-Col Hon Maurice Vyner Baliol BRETT 1882-1934 (s of 2^nd Viscount ESHER 1852-1930) and Florence Harriet Zena DONES 1886-1975.
