From the Telegraph and Times of 13 November 2019: MACKENZIE Lady Anne, died peacefully on 4th November 2019, aged 99 years. Much loved wife of the late Colin Mackenzie, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family burial followed by Service of Thanksgiving to be held at St Paul’s, Croachy, IV2 6UB at 11.15 a.m. on Tuesday 26th November. No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to the Royal Voluntary Service may be given at the church or forwarded to the Funeral Directors; John Fraser & Son, 17-29 Chapel Street, Inverness...

She was d of 10th Duke of GRAFTON (1892-1970) and Lady Doreen Maria Josepha Sydney BUXTON (1897-1923) d of 1st & last Earl BUXTON (1853-1934). She m 1947 Maj Colin Dalziel MBE MC (1919-99) s of Lt-Col Douglas William Alexander Dalziel MACKENZIE (1889-1955), scion of the Scots gentry family of that name of Farr, and Patience Elizabeth HOARE (1896-1962), scion of the Bts of that name cr 1899, and had a son and three daus.

She was sister-in-law of the Mistress of the Robes, Fortune, Duchess of GRAFTON (b 1920), who will be 100 next February. Needless to say Lady Anne has extensive connections to the families of which we treat.

There not being many clues about her identity in the anouncement (e.g., no famiy members named other than her husband) I have been looking for some further confirmation about her identity.

Here is some corroboration, though still not definitive:

A Colin Dalzeil Mackenzie, born 1919, died 1999, was buried at Dunlichity Churchyard.


From internet references I infer that Dunlichity is close to Croachy, where Anne's Service is to be held. I found a reference that Dunlichity Church itself was recently closed, which might explain why the service is not held there.

I'm in no doubt whatsoever that I've correctly identified Lady Anne from the death notice.
