The parents of the late Mr Summers' first wife, née Helen Bennetta TREVOR-ROPER, were first cousins once removed. The Rev Ranulph Dacre TREVOR-ROPER was the youngest son of Dacre TREVOR-ROPER (12 I 1839 - 18 VII 1922) and his wife (married 25 VIII 1875), Louisa WANKLYN (c.1843/4 - 29 IV 1931), while his wife, Joan Fraser WOODCOCK, was the granddaughter maternally of Louisa's brother William Trevor WANKLYN (1837 - 28 VIII 1904) and his wife (married 16 VII 1862), Mary Anne FFARINGTON (1839 - 8 VII 1887).

Mary Anne FFARINGTON was of that family, of Worden, Lancashire (which, per Burke's Family Index (BFI), last appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry (BLG) in the 1886 edition, although I have found it in later editions, such as that for 1921, online at https://books.google.co.uk/books?redir_esc=y&id=2v8-AQAAMAAJ&q=Ffarington#v=onepage&q=Ffarington&f=false).

Mary Anne (N.B. that is how her christian names appear on her gravestone, but she is shown in BLG as "Marianne") Ffarington was the younger daughter of Henry FFARINGTON (died 1859) and his wife (married 1824), Elizabeth WOODCOCK (1801 - 1875), who was the daughter of Thomas WOODCOCK (23 I 1769 - 6 XI 1850), who had been elected as Mayor of Wigan five times, in 1802, 104, 1806, 1808 and 1817. Thomas Woodcock's second son, Edward WOODCOCK (3 V 1803 - 10 VII 1861), was the father of Dr Robert Fraser Woodcock, who married his first cousin Helen Elizabeth Mary Wanklyn on 8 October 1879. The Woodcocks can be found in the pedigree of Woodcock of Bolnore, Cuckfield, Sussex, which, per BFI, last appeared in BLG in the 1900 edition.

Helen Elizabeth Mary Wanklyn's second husband (married 1909), Harold PEARCE, was also one of her first cousins, as he was a son of John Pearce (1834 - 1888) and his wife (married 10 X 1861), Mary Emma WANKLYN (1842 - 21 VI 1879), another sister of Helen's father, William Trevor Wanklyn.

William Trevor Wanklyn was a first cousin of Margaret Bradshaw WANKLYN (22 III 1824 - 14 V 1881), the wife (married 29 VII 1852) of William McCONNEL (31 VIII 1809 - 10 X 1902). Mr and Mrs William McConnel were the great-grandparents of Diana Ruth McCONNEL (15 I 1922 - 1 XI 2010), the wife (married 28 I 1944) of the 8th Duke of Wellington, and they were the grandparents of (Margaret) Elizabeth McCONNEL (23 XII 1918 - 2 VI 1983), the second wife (married 5 I 1954, as her second husband) of the 9th Duke of Roxburghe. Mr and Mrs McConnel were also the great-grandparents of Elizabeth, Duchess of Roxburghe's niece, Diana Frances WATHERSTON (born c.1947), the wife (married 9 IX 1967) of the 18th Earl of Devon.
