From the Telegraph of 16 Aug 2023: LESLIE MELVILLE Eliza died peacefully on 13th August 2023. Beloved wife of Hamish, adored mother of Jake and Harry and grandmother of Rory, Honor and Luke. Funeral private. There will be a service of thanksgiving and celebration of her life at St Peter's Church, Eaton Square and at the Church of Scotland in Strathpeffer, Ross-shire in October/November. Arrangements by John Fraser & Son of Lovat House, Dingwall.

She was d of 6th Marquess of NORTHAMPTON 1885-1978 and Virginia Lucie 1919-97 d of David Rimington HEATON 1893-1960 sometime head of that gentry family f/o Round Down and his 1st w Louisa Marie 1880-1924 d of Francis Ford FREEMAN 1847-1908 of Tavistock, Devon and Lucy Emma HADEN 1853-1929. She m 1968 (Ian) Hamish b 1944 s of Maj Michael Ian LESLIE MELVILLE 1918-97 (gs of 13th Earl of LEVEN and (10th of) MELVILLE 1835-1906) and Cynthia 1921-86 d of Sir Charles Jocelyn HAMBRO KBE MC 1897-1963 scion of that gentry family of The Hyde (and f of the LP Baron HAMBRO 1930-2002) and Pamela 1900-32 d of John Dupuis COBBOLD 1861-1929 sometime head of that gentry family of Glemham Hall (whose 1st cousin once removed was 1st Baron COBBOLD 1904-87) and Lady Evelyn MURRAY 1867-1963 d of 7th Earl of DUNMORE 1841-1907 and Lady Gertrude COKE 1847-1943 d of 2nd Earl of LEICESTER 1822-1909 and Juliana WHITBREAD 1825-70 (d of Samuel WHITBREAD MP 1796-1879 sometime head of that brewing dynasty and gentry family f/o Southill, and gd of 21st Baron DACRE 1777-1853 and sister of 1st Viscount HAMPDEN 1814-92), and had two sons as above.

From the Times of 5 Oct 2023: The service of thanksgiving for Lady Eliza Leslie Melville, will now be held on Wednesday 1st November 2023 at 11am in St Luke’s Church, Sidney Street, London… (please note change of venue) followed by a reception at the Turf Club, 5 Carlton House Terrace, St James’s, London... Please confirm attendance for either of the above… There will also be a service of thanksgiving on Monday 6th November 2023 at 11am in the Church of Scotland in Strathpeffer, Ross-shire.
