The prospective bridegroom's parents, Charles R LUPTON (born 9 III 1960) and his wife (Melanie) Susan, née VERCOE (birth registered Q1 1960 - Meriden), were married in 1983. Their daughter, Iska Helen LUPTON (born March 1989), is the co-authoress, with Anastasia Miari, of Grand Dishes, a cookbook of recipes from grandmothers across the globe.

Mrs Susan Lupton is the daughter of Michael George Skinner VERCOE (born 1925) and his wife (marriage registered Q1 1954 - Surrey Northern), Margit Erika PAUSON (born 24 III 1928). Michael Vercoe was the younger son of Dr Richard Herbert VERCOE (1884 - 22 III 1930) and his wife (married 1912), (Elizabeth) Selina SKINNER (1881 - 3 VI 1960), and he followed his father into the medical profession. His elder brother, Stephen Richard VERCOE (19 III 1921 - VII 1997), was an actor, and the second of his three sisters, Rosemary Joyce VERCOE (29 IV 1917 - 28 VII 2013), was an actress and costume designer; Rosemary was married in 1958 to (as his second wife) Patrick Alexander ROBERTSON (18 XII 1922 - 9 IV 2009), a theatre designer, with whom she often collaborated.
