Devoted husband to the late Joan, much-loved father to Jeremy, Kate, Mark, Tom, Jane and Elizabeth, grandfather and great-grandfather. Memorial service at 2pm on 27th May 2025 at St Lawrence Church, Abbots Langley... A celebration at Gray’s Inn to be arranged…

He was s of Edward STUART-SMITH 1882-1969 by his 7 Feb 1918 m (Marylebone Church) to Doris Mary LAUGHLAND 1889-1950. He m 1953 Joan Elizabeth Mary 1929-2015 d of Thomas Augustus MOTION 1866-1942 scion of that gentry family f/o Stisted Hall and Lady Elizabeth GRIMSTON 1885-1975 d of 3^rd Earl of VERULAM 1852-1924 and Margaret Frances 1853-1927 d of Sir Frederick Ulric GRAHAM 3^rd Bt 1820-88 and Lady Jane Hermione ST MAUR d 1909 d of 12^th Duke of SOMERSET 1804-85 and Jane Georgiana SHERIDAN 1809-84 (gd of the playwright Rt Hon Richard Brinsley SHERIDAN 1751-1816 sometime head of that gentry family of Frampton Court), and had three sons and three daus.
