Joan Bright Astley OBE (1910-2008)

Joan Bright Astley (dau of Trevor Percy Bright) was the 2nd wife (m
1949) of Col Philip Reginald Astley CBE MC (1896-1958) (his first wife
was the actress Madeleine Carroll). Col Astley is the son of Rev
Hubert Delaval Astley (1860-1945) & Constance Edith (d 1940), dau of
Sir Vincent Rowland Corbet 3rd Bt and widow of Sir Richard Francis
Sutton, 5th Bt. Rev Hubert Astley was the son of Col Francis Astley
(1810-1866) & his 2nd wife Rosalind Alicia (d 1900), dau of Sir Robert
Frankland Russell 7th Bt. Col Francis was the son of a baronet [Sir
Jacob Henry Astley 5th Bt MP (1756-1817)] and younger brother of the
16th Lord Hastings, from whom subsequent holders of that title
descend, including the present (22nd) Lord Hastings.

Joan and Philip Astley's only son (in line to the Hastings barony and
Astley baronetcy):
Richard Jacob Astley b 1950 m 1974 Rosanna eldest dau of the actor Sir
(John) Anthony Quayle CBE and had issue:
1 Thomas Jacob Astley b 1975
2 Harry Richard Astley b 1977
1 Jenny Miranda Astley b 1980
