From the Telegraph of 13 March 2026: DRINKWATER Deirdre (née Curtis Bennett), widow of Sir John Drinkwater and of James Boscawen, died peacefully on 10th March 2026 aged 92. Much loved mother to Caroline and Diana, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral at Yester Kirk, Gifford, East Lothian on Friday 27th March at 2 p.m.

She was d of Frederick Henry (Derek) CURTIS-BENNETT QC 1904-56 sometime head of that gentry family and his 1st wife Margaret Duncan d of Dr Duncan David MACKINTOSH of Worthing. She m first 1955 James Townshend 1932-92 s of Maj John Perceval Townshend BOSCAWEN 1906-72 (2xgt gs of 3 Viscount FALMOUTH 1758-1808) and Lady Mary Helen Alma GRAHAM 1909-99 d of 6 Duke of MONTROSE 1878-1954 and Lady Mary Louise DOUGLAS-HAMILTON 1884-1957 d of 12 Duke of HAMILTON and [9] BRANDON 1845-95 and Lady Mary Louise Elizabeth MONTAGU 1854-1934 d of 7 Duke of MANCHESTER 1823-90, and had two daus as above. She m second 1998 as his 2 w (his first w was a scion of the Drinkwater barons) Lt-Cdr Sir John Muir DRINKWATER OBE RN QC 1925-2019.
