From the Times of 11 April 2026: LIDWELL Michael Owen on 25th March 2026, aged 84. Optical physicist, fell runner and avid sailor. Beloved husband of Naomi and father of Simon, Aline, Hannah and Rebekah. Peacefully at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with Aline by his side. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at St Michael & All Angels, Helensburgh, at 1pm Tuesday 28th April. Instead of flowers please donate to his chosen charities British Red Cross, Contraflow, RNLI or SU Scotland.

He was s of Owen Millwood LIDWELL 1914-2010 and Daphne Jenefer Mary 1918-2011 d of Lt George Ellsworth Sydenham FURSDON 1893-1936 scion of that gentry family of Fursdon and Aline Lucinda 1894-1982 d of William Shaw Harris GASTRELL 1862-1948 by his 1890 m reg Q4 Devon to Harriet Lucinda WADE 1862-1952. He m 1972 reg Q3 Derby (Agnes) Naomi b 1945 reg Q2 Derbys d of Alexander Bernard ALLISON 1912-99 by his 1940 m reg Q2 Hendon to Agnes Margaret HOUGHTON 1905-2001, and had issue
