According to the New York Post of October 3, 2007, the Hon. Justin
Portman (son of the 9th Viscount Portman and half-brother of the
current (10th) Viscount) and his wife, the Russian born model Natalia
Vodianova welcomed a third child on Sept. 13. The baby, named Viktor,
is the couple's second son joining brother Lucas (b. 2001) and sister
Neva (b. 2006).

Is Lucas in succession to the viscountcy etc? I think he was born
before the marriage which rules him out. However, Viktor is in.

There is a dispute between the two reference volumes as to whether or
not Lucas was born before or after his parents' marriage.

Debrett's 2003 has them married in Nov. 2001 and Lucas born in Dec.
2001 in which case he would be in.

However, the latest Burke's has them married in Sept. 2002 and Lucas
born in Feb. 2002. Even though this would have him born prior to the
marriage, Burke's still lists Lucas with a "+" which means "in
remainder.

How they can come up with 2 totally different year/month combinations
for both the marriage and the baby's birth in beyond me!

The only saving point is that, at this point, it is highly unlikely
Justin would inherit the viscountcy.

The current viscount (Justin's half-brother) has 3 sons-- all young
(the heir, b. 1984 and his two half brothers, b. 1990 and 1995).

In addition, Justin has an older full brother (Alexander, b. 1967)
with two young sons of his own (b. 1996 and 2000).

It would just be nice to get the correct marriage/birth information.
Maybe the new Debrett's will be able to shed some light on the
situation.

After checking Ancestry I believe the Debrett's dates are correct and Lucas is in remainder:

The indices give a marriage for Justin T B Portman to Natalia Vodianova in Nov 2001 in Hereford, followed by a birth of Lucas Alexander B Portman, registered Jan 2002 in Westminster (with the correct mother's maiden name).

The confusion may have arisen as a second wedding ceremony took place in St Petersburg in Sept 2002 (see https://theesotericcuriosa.blogspot.com/2009/12/rags-to-riches.html) . This also lists Lucas' exact DoB, which suggests the Jan 2002 registration took place a couple of weeks after the actual birth.
