From the Telegraph of 6 Jan 2024: MAXWELL MACDONALD Sir John Maxwell Macdonald of Largie and of Pollok Bt, died peacefully in the Campbeltown Hospital on 24th December 2023, aged 87. Beloved husband of Ruth, father of Jock, Angus and Victoria and grandfather to five. Funeral Service at Cardross Crematorium on Thursday 18th January at 1.15 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St Kiaran's Church, Argyll Street, Campbeltown on Friday 9th February at 12 noon.

He was s of Dame Anne STIRLING-MAXWELL Baronetess 1906-2011 and John MAXWELL MACDONALD 1908-95 (formerly MORETON MACDONALD, who he succ. as) head of that Scots gentry family of Largie. He m 1964 Eleanor Ruth d of T B LAIRD, and had two sons and a dau as above. His elder son succeeds him:

This Baronetcy was able to pass to and through females because the regrant of 1707 meant that it passed to heirs of entail.
