The prospective bridegroom's maternal grandmother was born in 1930 (rather than 1920). She was the eldest sister of Diana Catherine STURGE (born 4 X 1933), who is a Life Peeress in her own right, having been created Baroness Eccles of Moulton on 10 May 1990, and is the wife (married 29 I 1955) of John Dawson ECCLES, 2nd Viscount Eccles, CBE (born 20 IV 1931).

Betty Helen COHEN was a sister of Sir Rex Arthur Louis COHEN, KBE (1906 - 29 II 1988). Their grandfather, Louis Samuel COHEN (26 V 1846 - 7 IX 1922), was Lord Mayor of Liverpool from 1899 to 1900 (the first Jew to be elected to that office), and their uncle, Sir (Benn) Jack Brunel COHEN, KBE (5 X 1886 - 11 V 1965), was MP (Conservative) for Liverpool Fairfield from 1918 to 1931.
