POWNALL Sarah Bettine, peacefully on 1st July 2023. Loving wife of the late Henry, much loved mother of Emma (dec'd), Nick and Charlotte. Very proud granny of Georgie, Jack, Davina, Tom, Harry and Millie and great-granny to Bea, Zelda, Uma and Riva. Private cremation. Thanksgiving service to follow.

She was d of Maj John Latham DEVERELL 1897-1978 of Spindrift, Trebetherick, Cornwall (is he scion of the DEVERELL gentry family of Bossington? I don’t have my BLG1937 to hand) by his 15 Dec 1925 m to Elizabeth BYRON 1901-91. She m 1955 Henry John QC 1927-2003 s of John Cecil Glossop POWNALL CB 1891-1967 and Margaret Nina JESSON 1901-92, and had a son and two daus as above. The surviving dau Charlotte Sarah Jesson b 1963 reg Q4 London m 1987 Sir Edward Brian Stanford MOUNTAIN 5^th Bt b 1961 and has two sons THOMAS (Tom) DENIS EDWARD b 14 Aug 1989 & Harry Brian Pownall b 1991) and a dau (Camilla (Millie) Margaret b 1993).

Yes, John Latham DEVERELL (born 24 June 1897) was the elder son of John Richard Croft DEVERELL, shown as head of the family in BLG1937 (page 609). (The younger son was born and died 1898.) Sarah Bettine (born 22 April 1934) had two older brothers, John Christopher Byron (born 12 Feb 1927) & Simon Richard Latham (born 10 April 1932).
