Last Feb I posted this:-

Caroline Brand, wife of Francis Brand, gave birth to a daughter, Mary
Virginia, 11 February, 2007. Is the father here the Hon. Francis
Anthony Brand [b. 17 September, 1970], elder son & heir of the 6th
Viscount Hampden .....

Any clues whther this is correct?

(Posted from my son's machine. I'm having trouble signing in
from mine, but hope to be back in a few days - hence the
disgraceful delay in recent BMDs.)

Does anyone know if either of the two Hon sons have had a male heir?

Not even 2 weeks into the New Year, we have our first peerage lost of
the year.

To answer all questions:

Michael, Mary Virginia is indeed the daughter of the new (7th)
Viscount and his wife. The couple, wed in 2004, also have a son,
Lucian Anthony, born Nov. 3, 2005 who becomes the new heir apparent.

The late Viscount's younger son, b. 1975, is unmarried

These 3 males are the only males in remainder to the Viscountcy.
Every one else is in remainder to the Barony of Dacre only.

The late Ronald Ferguson, father of Sarah, Duchess of York, descended
from this family.

That's not true Brook! There is the grandson of Major Chalres Brand
4th son of 1st Viscount, issue of Col John Brand (1885-1929) his son b
1925 (Michael) has a son Charles David William b 54 who has a son
Hendry Josuha b 95. These are the only other males in remainder to the
viscountacy apart from those that you mentioned, unless of course they
have all died since 2000? This peerage has produced so many girls. I
still await your answer to the Earl Howe collaterlas question?

OK, I see what you mean, marquess. It's just that the Debrett's set-
up is a little strange. They list the "Collateral Branches Living"
and the first line is "(In remainder to Barony of Dacre only)". I
assumed (I guess one should never assume anything) that ALL of those
who followed were NOT in remainder to the viscountcy. When I went
back to check, there is another section that states "Male line in
remainder to Viscountcy." There are several males mentioned including
the ones you stated. Thanks for the correction.

A very interesting Obit, a colourful character the kind that does the
aristocracy credit. Didn't realise that he inherited Glynde from a
cousin I had thought that it had gone down from Viscount to Viscount.
