Through his mother, Sir Richard was a descendant of the once very rich Vanderbilt family of New York (shipping and railroad millions). Other Vanderbilt descendants in the peerage and baronetage include the Duke of Marlborough, the Earl of Inchcape and the Earl of Winchilsea  & Nottingham.

Sir Richard was the oldest Baronet on the Official Roll of the Baronetage.  The oldest Baronet on the Roll is now (Sir) Leslie Marr who is also the longest serving Baronet

Presumably the oldest living Baronet is still Sir Humphrey Moon b 1919

Malta,

You have Edward R P born 1982, and Richard has him born 1991. My copy of DB 2003 has him born 1991 also.

DB 2003 also has Arthur D P m 1994, with issue two sons born 1995 & 1998 respectively, so the immediate future of the title seems secure.

This article from 2016 says that Sir Richard Pease, 4th Bt., had two sons by his wife Vita Pease (maiden name Pease). If so, why is Sir Richard's cousin his heir, rather than his eldest son?

Also, is the article incorrect in saying that Sir Richard was married to the mother of his two elder sons?

"They have two sons and a daughter who are four, five and six, and her husband has two older sons, 12 and 14, from his first marriage."

I suppose the short answer is that we were not aware (and nor was Debrett's) of Sir Richard's children by his 1st marriage nor that he had made a second marriage and had further issue.  Debrett's only lists a son Wilfred b 2002 by a relationship with a Kate Chubb. Sir Richard m 1995 T C C {Cecilie] Tholstrup of Copenhagen but divorced in 1999. It follows that the "two older sons 12 and 14, from his first marriage" must have been b circa 2004 and 2002 and therefore have been from a subsequent marriage (or relationship) - clearly the son b 2002 is probably Wilfred but, as mentioned, according to Debrett's his parents were not married. Wilfred Richard's birth was registered Q2/2002 Westminster m/m/n Chubb.  There is also a birth of Arthur Caspar Alix PEASE regd Q4/2003 Westminster m/m/n Chubb who is presumably the yr son.  Perhaps at some point Sir Richard and Kate Chubb did marry - if they married before the birth of Arthur then he would be the heir.

The 4th Baronet's wikipedia page is amended.. Though no mention of who are his sons.
"He is married to Victoria "Vita" Pease (maiden name also Pease), who was born in Brazil. Pease is the daughter of an economics professor father. In 2016, she published her first novel, Playing FTSE under the pen-name Penelope Jacobs. They live in Kensington, London, and have two sons and a daughter, and two older sons from Pease's first marriage."
