From the Telegraph of 9 May 2026: GLENISTER Derek Edward died on 3rd May 2026 aged 87. Husband to Clothilde (Cloe), father to Frances and Clare, beloved Gramps to Isobel and Imogen. Derek was a solicitor in his family firm in Eastcote for many years before retiring to Horsham where he lived happily and served the community. He will be sadly missed.

He was s of Sydney William GLENISTER 1912-89 by his 6 June 1936 (St Paul, Hammersmith) to Ada Florence BENGE 1911-94. He m 1964 Clothilde (Cloe) Muriel Frances b 1939 d of Sir Charles Arthelstan NIGHTINGALE 16 Bt 1902-77 and Evelyn Nadine Frances 1908-95 d of Arthur Charles Haselden DIGGENS 1874-1920 and as her 2 h Emily Beatrice SEWELL 1876-1961 (prev. Mrs Howard), and had two daus as above.

Husband to Clothilde (Cloe), father to Frances and Clare, father-in-law to Rob and adored Gramps of Isobel and Imogen.
Growing up in Ealing before moving to Ickenham he went on to work in the family solicitor firm based in Hammersmith and Eastcote.
Derek retired to Horsham in 2000 and volunteered for both the Volunteer Car Scheme and with the Court Service. He supported Essex Cricket Club and was a skilled maker of crisp sandwiches for his grandchildren. He was a lover of travel, visiting many countries globally but with a particular fondness for the Isles of Scilly, visiting 40 times.

Derek will be missed by all who knew him.
