‘We are best friends and soulmates’
Tahli Grobbelaar, 36, a designer, and
Johnny Boscawen, 52, a landscape gardener, were married on October 2, 2020, at Machrie Bay on the Isle of Arran
The former Liverpool goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar, was being interviewed live for a podcast when he was brought some breaking news. Johnny from Sussex had a question: “Can I have your daughter’s hand in marriage?”
At the time, Bruce’s daughter, Tahli, was sitting next to Johnny in their Sussex home. She thought Johnny was joking. “I couldn’t believe he had done it like that. My dad could easily just have turned around and said no.”
[Johnny's] great-grandparents were the Duchess of Hamilton and Duke of Montrose. The family seat was Brodick Castle, which is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland...
...[Tahli] grew up in Liverpool and Zimbabwe before moving to Surrey at the age of 11 when her father joined Southampton...
...They planned to get married in 2021 or 2022. Johnny’s father, Simon, died in 2004 and they wanted to marry where his ashes were scattered alongside a fishing hut that he had built.
Johnny’s youngest daughter, Storm, 14, was appointed chief wedding organiser...
