Alexander Clement (Sandy) Gilmour, CVO (1931-2009)

Alexander Clement (Sandy) Gilmour, CVO, who died 5 January, 2009, aged
77, a scion of the Gilmour Baronets (cr 1926), was a godfather of
Diana, Princess of Wales, and a first cousin of her father, the late
8th Earl Spencer.

He was b 23 Aug 1931, a son of Sir John Little Gilmour, 2nd Baronet (b
1899, d 1977), by his 2nd wife the former Lady Mary Cecilia Rhodesia
Hamilton, dau of the 3rd Duke of Abercorn; educated at Eton; married
(i) 2 Dec, 1954 (div 1983), Barbara Marie-Louise Constance Berry,
scion of the Viscounts Kemsley, eld dau of the Hon Denis Gomer Berry;
married (ii) 1983, as her 3rd husband, Susan Janet, dau of Capt
Voltelin James Howard van der Byl, DSC, former wife of (i) Alwyn
Dudley Smith and (ii) the 2nd Baron Chetwode; he leaves issue from the
first marriage.
