From the Times of 27 March 2025: HOHLER Clare Rosemary (née Spencer) died peacefully on 22nd March 2025. Beloved wife of Arthur. Funeral service to be held at noon on 31st March at St Michael’s Church, Paris. Family flowers only. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society. Memorial service at Nether Winchendon at a later date.

She was d of John Gray Churchill SPENCER BERNARD 1907-77 (4xgt gs of 3rd Duke of MARLBROUGH 1706-58, etc etc) and Elsie Phyllis 1907-2001 d of Ferrand CORLEY of Madras, India. She m 1963 (Rio Tyrrell) Arthur b 1934 s of Henry Arthur Frederick HOHLER CMG 1911-2001 (who he succ. as) head of that gentry family of Long Crendon and his 1st w Mona Valentine 1909-44 d of Lt-Col Arthur Murray PIRIE DSO 1869-ka1917 scion of the PIRIE-GORDON Scots gentry family of Buthlaw and Valerie Marie GURDON 1875-1958 scion of that gentry family f/o Assington.

Elsie Phyllis Corley was the daughter of Ferrand Edward CORLEY (22 VI 1877 - 13 VII 1937) and his wife (married 20 IV 1906), Elsie Maria EARLY (24 II 1881 - 3 III 1981), who was herself the elder daughter of Charles William EARLY (6 XI 1850 - 12 V 1943) and his wife, Martha Naomi DOLTON (1850 - 27 I 1935). Charles William Early's sister, Sarah Vanner EARLY (1850 - 8 XI 1940), was the wife (married 29 XII 1870) of the 1st Baron Hayter.
