Col. Michael ffolliott Woodhead, MBE died 18 October, 2008. He was
husband of Albina__, and father of (i) Nicholas Woodhead, who married
1979, Rose Bidget Fitzalan Howard (b 1957), scion of the Dukes of
Norfolk; (ii) Christopher Woodhead, (iii) Jane Woodhead, (iv) Eleanor
Mary (Elly) Woodhead who married 1987, the Hon James Alan Keith (b
1959), son of the Baron Keith of Kinkel;and (v) Tim Woodhead. A
Thanksgiving Service takes place at St Mary Magdalene, Duns Tew, Oxon,
4th November 2008.

Can someone please explain the origin of the lower-case double letter
"f"?
I've seen this before with the name "ffrench" as well. Why is it only
with the letter "f?"
