According to Wikipedia, Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover (cr. 1989), son of Lord Sainsbury, died January 14, 2022.  

He was 94.

He was created a Life Peer in 1989 and a Knight of the Garter in 1992.  He was the Senior Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter at his death. This honour now falls to the 5th Duke of ABERCORN.

He was son of Baron SAINSBURY (1902 - 1998) and Doreen Davan ADAMS (died 1985). He m 1963 Anya ELTENTON and with her had 2 sons and a dau.  Their dau m. a son of Baroness BUTLER-SLOSS. He was also a first cousin of Baron SAINSBURY OF TURVILLE (born 1940).

He was also the oldest of the Knights (and Ladies) of the Garter.  The oldest is now Lord Morris of Aberavon

Lord Sainsbury was created a Knight Bachelor in the 1980 New Year Honours and received the accolade on 4 March 1980

From the Telegraph of 24 Jan 2022: John Davan, Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover, KG, died peacefully in his sleep, at home, after a long illness on 14th January 2022, aged 94. He was the beloved husband to Lady Anya Sainsbury, adored father to Sarah, Julian and Mark and a much loved grandfather to eight grandchildren. There will be a small family funeral, which is by invitation only, but there will be a larger thanksgiving service later in the year. No flowers please. Donations will go towards the creation of a woodland for the community in his memory to ‘The Woodland Trust’...
