Abington Pigotts Hall was built by the Pigott family circa 1500. It is in South Cambridgeshire, although the postal town is Royston, Hertfordshire.
The article on the De Courcy-Ireland family in Burke's Landed Gentry gives the descent of the Pigott family down to the eventual heiress, Elizabeth Mildred GRAHAM-FOSTER-PIGOTT (VIII 1868 - 12 IX 1937), who was married on 22 September 1898 to the Rev Magens DE COURCY-IRELAND, MA (15 III 1867 - 11 III 1955), Vicar of Litlington, then Rector of Abington Pigotts. The only members of the De Courcy-Ireland family who appear in the pedigree in Burke's LG are descendants of this marriage.
The Rev Magens De Courcy-Ireland was the fourth and youngest son of the Rev William Stanley DE COURCY-IRELAND (c.1826 - 30 VIII 1904) and his wife (married 3 I 1860), Mary Anne BROWNE (31 I 1836 - 6 IV 1928), a great-granddaughter of the 1st Baron Kilmaine. The third son of this couple was the Rev Edmond Stanley DE COURCY-IRELAND (1866 - 17 VI 1955), who was married in 1894 to Harriet Naylor PEPPER (1869 - 19 XII 1962), by whom he had three sons, the youngest of whom was Captain (Stanley) Brian DE COURCY-IRELAND, RN (5 V 1900 - 11 XI 2001), mentioned in Richard's above posting.
Captain Brian De Courcy-Ireland was married in 1927 to Ruth Rhys JONES (11 XII 1905 - 2007), the daughter of Harry JONES (1865 - 1914) and his wife (married 1898), Theodora Sophia Comyn PLATT (c.1870 - 7 III 1940), the sister of Sir Thomas Walter COMYN-PLATT (1869 - 18 III 1961), who, by his marriage on 22 May 1917 to Mrs Henrietta Julia NIVEN, née DEGACHER (11 I 1878 - 12 XI 1932) became the stepfather of (James) David Graham NIVEN (1 III 1910 - 29 VII 1983), the well-known actor.
