I've just worked out the figures for the number of peers who succeeded over the past few years and how many have gone on to the Roll of the Peerage (I have included the Furnivall barony):-

2017 20 successions, 14 on the Roll (70%)

2018 14 successions, 10 on the Roll (71%)

2019 12 successions, 6 on the Roll (50%)

2020 18 successions, 13 on the Roll (72%)

2021 16 successions, 9 on the Roll (56%)

2022 20 successions, 15 on the Roll (75%)

2023 28 successions, 19 on the Roll (68%)

2024 20 successions, 11 on the Roll (55%)

2025 18 succession, 4 on the Roll (22%)

Of the additional recognised successions there were 1 from 2021, 1 from 2022, 2 from 2023, 3 from 2024 and 4 from 2025

Ignoring 2025 the average recognised  successions  for these years is 63% or just under 2/3rds

Is it any wonder that the Roll does not represent reality when:-
1.It does not affect the use of the title in question
2.The sanction of not being recognised by the Crown is ineffective and the Crown has not followed its own rules.
3.It requires some expense.
Why shouldn't the Roll be abolished? What is needed is a Roll that represents reality, not simply those who have applied.
