He was s of Brig Richard John STREATFIELD DSO 1903-52 scion of that gentry family f/o Chiddingstone and Jane Eglantine 1914-90 d of Sir Guy STEPHENSON CB 1865-1930 (gt gs of 4^th Earl of ALBEMARLE 1772-1849, 2xgt gs of 20^th Baron CLIFFORD 1732-77, 5xgt gs of 1^st Earl of ROCKINGHAM 1655-1724, as well 5xgt gs of 6^th Earl of THANET 1644-1729, 6xgt gs of 2^nd Duke of NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE 1630-91, etc etc) and Gwendoline 1877-1960 d of Rt Hon John Gilbert TALBOT 1835-1910 (gs of 2^nd Earl TALBOT 1777-1849 (who was f of 18^th Earl of SHREWSBURY &c 1803-68)) by his wife a gd of 4^th Baron LYTTELTON 1817-76 (who was f of 8^th Viscount COBHAM 1842-1922). He m 1971 G M Jane d of Giles ROMANES, and had issue:
