I've wondered about this for some time, but found no answer. Does anyone know whether the actor Andrew Lincoln (born Andrew James Clutterbuck in 1973), is related to the LG family?

The wikipedia article on Andrew James Clutterbuck (under his stage name of Andrew Lincoln) states that he was born on 14 September 1973, and that his parents were an English civil engineer and a South African nurse (unhelpfully, it does not give their names). On freebmd.org.uk, the birth entry for Andrew James Clutterbuck (Q3 1973 - St Pancras) gives his mother's maiden name as Becker. I cannot find a record of a marriage between a Clutterbuck and a Becker, but it may be that his parents were married abroad, particularly as his mother was from South Africa.

Clutterbuck is a relatively common surname (FreeBMD, although it is incomplete, currently has 4,534 records of births for that name), and I therefore think that the odds of Andrew James Clutterbuck being related to the LG family of that name are fairly slim. Another consideration is that he was educated at Beechen Cliff School in Bath, which, although it and its predecessors have a long history and some distinguished alumni, is a state grant maintained school, whereas one might assume (whether correctly or not) that members of LG families tend to be educated at public schools.

Andrew Clutterbuck/Lincoln married Gael Frances Anderson (whose birth was registered in Westminster in Q1 1979) on 10 June 2006, and they have a son, Arthur, born in 2010, and a daughter, Matilda, born in 2007. Gael Anderson's father is Ian Scott Anderson MBE (born 10 VIII 1947), a musician, singer and songwriter best known for his work as the lead vocalist, flautist and acoustic guitarist of the rock band Jethro Tull. Her mother, Ian Anderson's second wife (marriage registered Q1 1976 - Chiltern and Beaconsfield), is (Jacqueline) Shona (whose birth was registered in Huddersfield in Q4 1951), the elder daughter of David Ian Learoyd (1922-9 VI 2002).

David Ian Learoyd's name at birth was David Ian Lang. His parents were John H Lang and Gwendolen E M Learoyd (born May 1894), who were married in 1919 (registered Q2 - Marylebone). Mrs Lang (later Mrs McKechnie, after she married her second husband in 1933) was a daughter of Alfred Ernest Learoyd (1857-23 V 1941), the founder of the firm of Learoyd Bros and Co Ltd, worsted manufacturers, of Trafalgar Mills, Huddersfield (another one of Mr Learoyd's daughters, Daphne Lorraine, was married to Sir Roger John Edward Conant, 1st Bt).

David Lang changed his surname to Learoyd by deed poll shortly before his marriage in 1950 (registered Q3 - Huddersfield) to Jacqueline Cumming Bell (1926-7 I 1991) - he had joined the family business, and was gaining experience in the mill departments before taking up executive position.

Jacqueline Cumming Bell was the second of the three daughters of Major William Cumming Bell (1898-1 IX 1951) and his wife, née Joan Middlemost Bairstow. Her elder sister, Anne Bairstow Cumming Bell (3 IX 1924-27 XII 2002) was the first wife of Charles John Robert Manners, 10th Duke of Rutland (28 V 1919-2 I 1999); they were married on 27 April 1946, and divorced in 1956, having had issue, one daughter.

Therefore, whether or not Andrew Clutterbuck is connected to the landed gentry, there are a few connections by marriage to the peerage and the baronetage.
