The Lady Frances von Hofmannsthal (née Armstrong-Jones) b 1979, wife
of
Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal, gave birth to a son, Rex Antony Octavian,
2 May, 2008. Rodolphe is a son of Mr Octavian Charles Hugo von
Hofmannsthal (b. 1946), and Mrs von
Hofmannsthal, and Lady Frances is the only child of the 1st Earl of
Snowdon, GCVO (b. 1930), by his 2nd wife, the former Lucy Mary
Davies.

Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal is a great-grandson of the
6th Marquess of Anglesey. Rodople's father is a son of Raimund von
Hofmannsthal (d. 1974), who married (as his second wife) in 1939, the
Lady Elisabeth Hester Mary Paget (b. 1916), daughter of the 6th
Marquess of Anglesey (1885-1947)

Most interesting, does anyone know when Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal
himself born?
Is his mother the former Annabel Lea Corbally, whom Octavian Charles
Hugo von Hofmannsthal announced his engagement to in 1977?

Must try and find a 1980 Debretts, the last issue Lady Elisabeth & her
descendants would have appeared in.

I can only answer part of your question and not very well at that.

According to Burke's 107th ed., Rodolphe's mother is "Annabel Lea --"
and he is shown as having been born in "19--"

Not much help I'm afraid.

Typo> please delete hoffmansthal and insert HOFMANNSTHAL.

I've checked the BMDs twixt 1977 and 1982 without locating Rodolphe's

I have 30th November 1982 as a birth date for the younger von
Hofmannsthal brother from the Times online, thanks for the name.

If Rodolphe isn't in the BMDs, maybe he was born abroad? Lady
Elizabeth died in 1980 & had a residence in Austria, maybe the family
where settling matters there?

Thanks I've checked the Times online. Engagement announced 14th June
1977 - Annabel was then Mrs Annabel Bygraves, daughter of Mr & Mrs
Corbally, of 15 Moreton Terrace, London SW1. No further information,
couldn't find Annabel's previous marriage or engagement.

Thanks Andrew - what if Caspar is Caspar William RODOLPHE?

Do we know that Rodolphe has a younger brother?

It could be possible that Rodolphe is Casper.... but maybe the R is
for his maternal Raimund and there are 2 brothers.

If only marriage reportage in the Times & Telegraph was more detailed;
the fiances's full initials would be in the engagement announcement
"headline" & the best man might be mention in the marriage details...

Hello!

Apologies for late reply and for digging through this post. I have been following the Snowdons for quite some time and now I even created a blog, rather an Instagram fan account - http://instagram.com/the_snowdons. It’s fairly new, created around this lockdown period, but would cover more from Antony down to the extended family, so also including the von Hofmannsthals.

Speaking of them, I really find the von Hoffs fascinating, especially that Lord Snowdon’s (Antony Armstrong-Jones) son-in-law Rodolphe has British aristocratic blood, being the great-grandson of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey (and the grandnephew of the 7th Marquess), and also a great-great grandson of the 8th Duke of Rutland. That mean’s Rodolphe’s children would have ancestors of an earl, marquess, and duke. Who knows, perhaps his three children Rex, Maud, and Sybil will marry further to the aristocracy and even royalty.

I found vital information about the von Hofmannsthals. It could fill the gaps on several things. One of my major sources is Flickr, used by Rodolphe’s aunt (maternal side) Miranda Hine (née Lee) the sister of his mother Annabel. Annabel was listed as Annabel Lea in the Peerage News page, but according to Miranda’s family history post, Annabel’s maiden name is Annabel Mary Elizabeth Lee, who married Octavian Charles Hugo von Hofmannsthal in 1977. Rodolphe Thomas Hugo von Hofmannsthal was born on 1 November 1980 while his younger brother Caspar was born on 30 November 1982. Both were both in London.

Rodolphe works as a Senior Director for the David Zwirner London gallery while Caspar is a chef (he’s had some restaurants but they have closed). Their mother Annabel is part of the leadership team of the Dyslexia Association of London.

Flick link of the family album, also check out Miranda Hine’s family posts - https://flickr.com/photos/29040600@N05/sets/72157630984380764

A brief article on Rodolphe published by The Independent. During this time, he and Tom Hanbury owned Dicksmith Gallery. The article said that Rodolphe is described as a Scandinavian, perhaps he studied outside the UK? I have no info to back this up and this was not mentioned in other articles. -

This Flickr album was made around 2012, so the info about Rodolphe and Lady Frances’s third child Sybil was not included. Miranda’s family album is public and she posted recent photos of her family’s London trip (she is now based in New York), where they stay with the von Hofmannsthals in their London residence.

Lady Frances von Hofmannsthal (Antony’s daughter) is now working as an editor-in-chief and publisher of the magazine, Luncheon, an independent publication which got a cult following. They are very active on Instagram - http://instagram.com/luncheonmagazine

Both she and Rodolphe occasionally attend society events and even have pictures in Getty Images, though they are more private compared to her (half-)siblings David, Lord Snowdon and Lady Sarah Chatto.
