CHEAPE
Hugh Bruce Ismay, on Saturday 8th May 2010, in his 91st year. Son of
the late Brigadier-General G.R.H. Cheape of Wellfield,.—Fife and
Tiroran, Isle of Mull. Funeral at 1.15 p.m. on Monday 17th May at
Torosay Parish Church.
He was the son of Brig-Gen George Ronald Hamilton CHEAPE CMG DSO MC
(1881-1957) of that gentry family of Strathtyrum & Fossoway, and
Margaret Bruce (d 1967, dau of (Joseph) Bruce ISMAY of that gentry
family formerly of Dawpool. He m 1947 Moira Olive (b 1924) dau of W/
Cdr Sir Archibald William Henry JAMES MC of the gentry family POWELL
(formerly JAMES) of Barrock), and had issue, three sons and a dau. Of
whom: the 2nd son, Angus Geoffrey Bruce (b 1950) married a scion of
the Barons GLENCONNER and had a son, Henry Bruce Iain ISMAY CHEAPE,
current head of the gentry family; the dau Bridget Anne Julia (b 1956)
m 1980 the Hon Roualeyn Robert HOVELL-THURLOW-CUMMING-BRUCE (b 1952),
son and heir of the 8th Baron THURLOW, and has issue, 2 sons and 2
daus.
