While finishing up vol 1 of The Complete Peerage, I noticed there is an appendix for Roman Catholic Peers and Peeresses.

I wonder, how many of today's peers and peeresses still profess the Catholic faith?

I can recall the current Duke of Norfolk, the 7th Baron Camoys, the 16th Lady Herries of Terregles  and the 17th Viscount Gormanston as being all Roman Catholic.

I believe the 3rd Marquess of Bute was a convert to Catholicism.  I don't know if the current (8th) Marquess, his great-great grandson, is a member of the faith.

"The Catholic Families" by Mark Bence-Jones is useful (and entertaining)

The Catholic Directory used to have lists of Catholic MP's and Catholic Peers (or at least Members of the House of Lords)ut I haven't inspected a copy for a long time

The Marquess of Bute, The Earl of Oxford,  The Earl of Dalhousie, The Earl of Eldon,  The Earl of Lytton, Earl Peel, Lord Carbery,  Lord Clifford of Chudleigh, Lord Fellowes of West Stafford,  Lord Hesketh,  Lord Killanin, Lord Tugendhat and Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe all went to Ampleforth or Downside.  So they presumably are,  or at least have been, Catholics.
