From the Telegraph of 28 July 2026: BURRILL Timothy Peckover died aged 95 on July 23rd. Film producer. Much loved and admired. A true gentleman with perfect manners and a wondrous smile who will be greatly missed.

He was s of Lionel Peckover BURRILL OBE 1901-83 by his 7 Oct 1926 m (St Geo Han Sq) to Marjorie Sybil 1898-1976 d of Lt-Col Henry (Hal) HURLBUTT VD 1865-1949 by his 1891 m to Alice Elizabeth PARKES 1864-1946. He m first 1959 (div 1966)  as her 1 h Philippa (Mrs Simon Courtald) 1938-2004 d of Maurice HARE 1907-93 and Margherita (Margot) 1912-2001 d of Sir (Herbert) Guy Musgrave HAMBLING 2 Bt 1883-1966 and Olive Margaret Gordon CARTER 1889-1969, and had a dau. He m second 1968 (div 1993) Santa d of John RAYMOND and Betty __, and had a son and further two daus.

The late Mr Burrill's second wife, née Santa RAYMOND (1 XI 1936 - 14 VI 2016), was married firstly, in 1965, to James T WOLFE. She was the eldest child of (Neville) John Burrows RAYMOND (3 IV 1902 - 2 VI 1992) and his wife (married 14 IX 1934), Betty Unice FREEMAN (7 III 1909 - 21 I 1997).

 

Mr and Mrs John Raymond's second child, Verity Elizabeth RAYMOND (1941 - 10 IX 2025) was married firstly, in 1968, to (as his second wife) (John) Adrian BAILEY (1930 - 18 XI 2021) and secondly, in 1974, to (as his second wife) the 3rd Baron Ravensdale.

 

Adrian Bailey had been married, firstly, on 21 July 1954 (divorced 1965), to (as her first husband) Lady Mary Katherine BAILLIE-HAMILTON (13 I 1934 - 18 IX 2022), daughter of the 12th Earl of Haddington. He was the elder son of Ronald Graham BAILEY (1904 - 18 IX 1967) and his wife (married 22 X 1929, as her first husband), Annette Winifred ROBERTSON (19 II 1906 - 18 IV 1980).

 

Mr and Mrs Ronald Bailey were also the parents of David Malcolm Graham BAILEY (born 1934), the husband (married 19 XII 1961) of Lady Daphne Magdalene CADOGAN (23 X 1939 - 8 VI 2023), the second daughter of the 7th Earl Cadogan.

 

Mrs Ronald Bailey, née Annette Robertson, was the elder daughter of William Bruce ROBERTSON (c.1863 - 19 VII 1934) and his wife (married 1897), Jane Eleanor JAMIESON (11 IX 1874 - 28 IX 1955). Her sister, Esme Barbara ROBERTSON (1909 - 11 XII 1996) was the wife (married 23 VI 1932) of Sir Leonard ROPNER, 1st Bt, MC, TD, DL (26 II 1895 - 12 X 1977), MP (Conservative) for Sedgefield, 1923-29, and for Barkston Ash, 1931-64.

 

Mrs William Robertson, née Jane Jamieson, was the eldest daughter of George JAMIESON, CMG (5 II 1843 - 30 XII 1920) and his wife (married 1 VII 1873), Margaret Isabella INKSON (7 VI 1847 - 19 V 1896), whose third daughter, Adelaide Mary JAMIESON (24 VI 1877 - 14 X 1956) was the wife (married 23 XI 1898, as her first husband) of Arthur GAITSKELL (20 VIII 1869 - 1 XII 1915), by whom she was the mother of the Rt Hon Hugh Todd Naylor GAITSKELL, CBE (9 IV 1906 - 18 I 1963), Leader of the Opposition and of the Labour Party from 1955 to 1963.

 

It follows that Adrian Bailey was a first cousin once removed downwards of the Rt Hon Hugh Gaitskell, and his second wife's second marriage therefore produced an interesting lateral genealogical connection between Mr Gaitskell and two other former Labour MPs:

Sir Oswald Mosley had previously been MP for Harrow from 1918 to 1924 (as a Conservative, until 1922; Independent, 1922-24; Labour in 1924). He and his wife were both briefly New Party MPs in their respective constituencies in 1931.
