From the Telegraph of 4 Nov 2025: THORNTON John Henry died on 31st October 2025 aged 98. Husband of 67 years to late wife Jennifer. Much loved by his children Katherine, Edward and Robert also their families.

He was s of Rev John Gordon THORNTON 1884-1969 and Judith 1887-1960 d of Henry BIRKBECK 1853-1930 sometime head of that gentry family of Westacre and Ysabel Caroline ELWES 1859-1934 scion of that gentry family of Congham. He m 1958 Jennifer Barbara 1931-(July)2025 d of Percival John Parker STEPHENSON 1900-73 (s of Lt-Col Sir Henry Kenyon STEPHENSON 1^st Bt 1865-1947) and Pamela Benton 1908-97 d of Sir Walter Benton JONES 2^nd Bt 1880-1967 and Lily Marguerite FAWCETT 1879-1938, and had two sons and a dau as above.
