From the Times of 20 Jan 2026: DEVITT Janet Lilian (née Ellis) died peacefully in her own home, aged 100, on 2nd January 2026. Wife of the late Sir Thomas Gordon Devitt Bt, mother of Angela and James, Grannie and Great-Grannie. Thanksgiving service at noon on Wednesday 4th February 2026 at Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery, Elmers End Road, Beckenham, Kent... No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).
She was d of Col Hugh Sidney ELLIS CBE MC 1889-1965 by his 6 Aug 1921 m (St Giles, Ashtead) to Enid 1895-1970 d of Frederic Allan NICHOLL 1863-1941 by his 20 July 1894 m (St Leonard, Streatham) to Lilian Agnes MARSON 1869-1923. She m 1953 as his third wife Lt-Col Sir Thomas Gordon DEVITT 2 Bt 1902-95, and had a son (present 3 Bt) and a dau as above.
