He descended from James Wedderburn, whose older brother was created a Baronet in 1704, with remainder to heirs male whatsoever.

The 5th Baronet was attainted in 1746, but his heirs used the title anyway until 1803, when Sir David, who would have been 7th Baronet of the 1704 creation, was himself created a Baronet, with remainder including the issue male of the 4th Baronet of the 1704 creation, from whom the present Baronet descended.

DPB Online has now updated this page.

The information shown in Richard's post is, not surprisingly, confirmed.

I would just add that next in line, after the new baronet's son, would be his twin brother, Geordie Richard Andrew, shown as unmarried.

Obit in the Telegraph -  Sir Andrew Ogilvy-Wedderburn, officer in the Black Watch and Olympic bobsleigh competitor – obituary

EXTRACTS:

Sir Andrew Ogilvy-Wedderburn, Bt, officer in the Black Watch and Olympic bobsleigh competitor

A natural leader who was the best of company, ‘Ogg Wedd’ served in Northern Ireland several times at the height of the Troubles

Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Andrew Ogilvy-Wedderburn, 7th Bt, of Balindean, Perthshire, who has died aged 72, was a soldier, an Olympic bobsledder, a marksman and an all-round sportsman.

The baronetcy was created in 1704, but forfeited in 1746 after the Jacobite Rebellion. Sir John Wedderburn was accused of high treason for supporting the uprising , imprisoned in Southwark Gaol and executed at Kennington Common. It was restored in 1803 for Sir David Wedderburn, the Scottish businessman and Tory politician.

Andrew John Alexander Ogilvy-Wedderburn was born in Fareham in Hampshire on August 4 1952. His father, Sir John, the 6th baronet, served in the Royal Navy. Young Andrew was brought up at naval bases in Malta and Helensburgh, Firth of Clyde, before moving to the family home in Perthshire in 1960.

He was educated at Gordonstoun and, after attending Mons Officer Cadet Training Unit, in 1971 he joined the Black Watch on a Short Service Commission. He converted to a Regular Commission four years later and served in Northern Ireland several times at the height of the Troubles .

Between 1974 and 1980, he competed in bobsleigh competitions, raising the funds himself, travelling through the Alps in an ancient Bedford van and staying in modest inns. He won the British Bobsleigh Championship in 1976-77 as part of the four-man team. As the brakeman, he was also part of the four-man bobsleigh team that represented Great Britain in the Winter Olympics at Innsbruck in 1976 and at Lake Placid, New York State, in 1980 [….]

The battalion returned to Northern Ireland in 1995 and the following year Ogilvy-Wedderburn received the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service. After an appointment as Commander of Recruiting Scotland, followed by that of Scottish Divisional Lieutenant-Colonel, in 2004 he retired from the Army. He was a director of the Scottish Army Benevolent Fund from 2003 to 2007.

Ogg Wedd, as he was known, was the best of company, with a fund of amusing stories. Latterly, he spent his time enhancing the wildlife at his home in Perthshire, and even as health declined his love of the Scottish countryside never deserted him.

Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Andrew Ogilvy-Wedderburn married first, in 1984, Gillian Adderley; the marriage was dissolved in 2014. He married, secondly, Fiona (Fi) Beaton, who survives him with a daughter and two sons from his first marriage. Another son died in infancy. His son Peter (born 1987) succeeds in the baronetcy.

Andrew Ogilvy-Wedderburn, born August 4 1952, died April 9 2025
