Baroness Thatcher's first great-grandchild has been born in the United States.

Michael Thatcher, the only grandson of Britain’s first female Prime Minister, and his wife Courtney welcomed their child Emery Monroe Thatcher last week

The child was born just days after Lady Thatcher would have celebrated her 94^th birthday on October 13. 

Mr Thatcher had earlier announced that he and his wife would be having a girl in posts on social media.

Using a video of a wine decanter frothing with pink liquid, Mr Thatcher wrote: “Reveal: Composition of the 23rd chromosomal pair of our currently developing offspring.”

Mr Thatcher is heir apparent to the Thatcher baronetcy, currently held by his father.

The 31-year-old lives in Dallas as does his mother, Diane Beckett, the first wife of Sir Mark Thatcher, the former prime minister’s son.
