From the Telegraph of 18 Feb 2026: CHANCELLOR Susanna (née Debenham), died at home in Northamptonshire on 8th February 2026. Widow of journalist Alexander . She is survived by her daughters Eliza and Cecilia, her grandchildren Mary, Sally, Bron and Lucas, and her great-grandchildren.

She was d of Martin Ridley DEBENHAM 1909-77 (s of Sir Ernest Ridley DEBENHAM 1 Bt 1865-1952) and Beatrice Sydney 1914-2010 d 2010 d of Ven Harry Sydney RADCLIFFE 1867-1949 and Elspeth TOD c1881-1954. She m 1964 Alexander Surtees CHANCELLOR CBE 1940-2017 scion of that gentry family of Hunstrete House, and had two daus as above, the elder (Eliza b 1964 m a gs of the novelist Evelyn WAUGH of that gentry family of Piers Court, as well gs of 6 Earl of ONSLOW and had issue).

Alexander Surtees Chancellor was grandson of Sir Richard Paget, 2nd Bt., and of his wife, Lady Muriel Evelyn Vernon Finch-Hatton. His maternal aunt, Angela Sibell Paget, married Susanna's uncle, Sir Piers Debenham, 2nd Bt.
