He was s of Brig (Reginald Barry) Lovaine PERSSE 1896-1985 scion of that Irish gentry family and Sheelah Patricia 1897-1979 dau of Col Henry Lewis BATTERBY of The Mill House, Sproughton, Ipswich. He m 1969 Susan Royle b 1942 reg Q1 Sussex dau of Cmdr Anthony KENNETT RN 1909-94 of Tanners, Wrington, Somerset by his 1941 m reg Q2 Devon to Patience Vera PLOWDEN 1915-98 scion of that gentry family of Plowden, and had two sons.
