_.Captain Sir Alastair Sturgis Aird, GCVO, died 30 September, 2009,
aged 78 years, at his home, The Paddock,Lovells Court, Marnhull,
Sturminster Newton, Dorset. He was Comptroller, 1974-2002, and Private
Secretary & Equerry to HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, 1993-2002;
Extra Equerry to HM The Queen, 2003-2009; b 14 an 1931, scion of the
Aird Baronets, son of Colonel Malcolm Aird; married 1963, Fiona Violet
Myddelton, CVO, Extra Lady-in-Waiting to HRH The Princess Margaret,
Countess of Snowdon, scion of the Myddelton of Chirk LG family, and
descended from the Marquesses of Lansdowne; 2 daughters, Caroline &
Henriett, and grandfather of Helena, Izzy, Freddie and Lucy.

Career:- Commissioned into the 9t Quee's Royal Lancers, 1951; served
BAOR; Adjt, 9th Lancers 1956-59; Equerry to Queen Elizabeth The Queen
Mother, 1960; Assistant Private Secretary to the Queen Mother from
1964

Family Funeral at St Gregory's Church, Marnhull, Dorset on Wednesday
14th October at 2.30 p.m. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held in
London to be announced at a later date.

Is this the Capt Aird who's issue is in remainder to the barony of
Willoughby of Earsby?

The co-heir to the barony is Sir Alastair's cousin, Sir John Aird, 4th
Bt., only son of Lady Priscilla Aird (b. 1909; d. 2002), second
daughter of the 2nd Earl of Ancaster, 25th Baron Willoughby de Eresby,
&c.
