From the Telegraph of 24 Oct 2023: GARFORTH-BLES Bertie died peacefully at home on 11th October. Beloved husband of Liz, devoted father to Juliet and Emma and much loved Bumpy to grandsons Harry and Charlie. Private funeral. Thanksgiving Service at Crudwell Church on 28th November at 2.30 p.m.

He was s of Maj Michael William GARFORTH-BLES 1913-90 scion of that gentry family and as her 2^nd h Pamela Joan 1917-89 d of Nigel Fairholt PATON 1867-1945 sometime head of that gentry family (now HADDEN-PATON) of Rossway and his 1^st w Innes Mabel c1888-1919 d of Maj-Gen Sir Charles Frederick HADDEN KCB 1854-1924 scion of that gentry family of Stonehouse and Frances Mary STRONG 1861-1949. He m c1978 reg Q1 Herts Elizabeth J A b c1949 d of George SPARROW of Porters End, Kimpton, Herts, and had two daus:

1. Juliet Elizabeth b 1982 reg Q4 Merton, m 2010 James (Jamie) Edmund Geoffrey b 1975 s of Stephen Cockayne GIBBS OBE 1929-2017 (gs of 1^st Baron HUNSDON (see below) who was s of 1^st Baron ALDENHAM 1819-1907) and his w & 1^st cousin once removed Lavinia Winifred b 1939 d of Sir Edmund Castell BACON 13th Bt KG KBE TD 1903-82 and Priscilla Dora 1913-2000 d of Col Sir Charles Edward PONSONBY 1^st Bt 1879-1976 (gs of 2^nd Baron DE MAULEY 1815-96) and Hon Winifred Marian GIBBS 1887-1984 d of 1^st Baron HUNSDON 1854-1935 and Anna Maria DURANT 1862-1938 (2xgt gd of Sir James DASHWOOD 2^nd Bt c1713-1779), and had two sons:
