Morgan Charles Morgan-Giles s. of Francis Charles (some sources give initial 'S', which given its presence amongst his son Michael's middle names, may stand for 'Scudamore') (Morgan-) Giles (1883-1964), O.B.E., boat builder and owner of the Morgan Giles shipyard at Teignmouth, Devon (his details on Wikipedia and elsewhere). Francis Morgan-Giles m. Ivy Constance (1886-1937), dau. of Herbert Carus-Wilson (1856-1917; 4th s. of William Wilson Carus-Wilson, of Casterton Hall, Westmorland) and Fanny, dau. of Henry Crockford, of Flackley Ash, Sussex (n.b.- Herbert doesn't appear with his wife and daughter in census records; Fanny and Ivy are, however, resident with her brother, Henry James Crockford, of The Village, Ingley Green, Okehampton, Devon in the 1901 census). BLG 1952, under 'Carus-Wilson of Casterton', only lists their son ('leaving issue'), Sydney Herbert (1883-), R.M.L.I., who is at school in the 1891 census.

Francis Morgan-Giles was eldest son of Francis Harry Giles (1858-), of Wandsworth, an upholsterer and furniture manufacturer, by his wife Charlotte Maria Harold, dau. of John Shepherd Clement.

The Lees family:

I initially wondered about a link to the Lees family of Thurland Castle, Lancs. (from which came the Lees Milne family of Wickhamford Manor and Crompton Hall), but there doesn't appear to be one; rather, the Lees family of Oldham were prosperous cotton manufacturers.

Geoffrey W. M. Lees's wife, Ellen, was dau. of Frank Penn (1851-1916), of Bifrons, Patrixbourne, Canterbury, Kent, a cricketer for Kent; G. W. M. Lees's sister, Audrey (1897-) m. Frank Penn's son, also Frank (1885-).  G. W. M. Lees's elder daughter, Lavinia Charlotte (1927-) m. John Ronald Raoul Millais, s. of artist Hesketh Raoul Lejarderay Millais (1901-1999), who was son of artist John Guille Millais (1865-1931), of Compton's Brow, Horsham, Sussex, and grandson of Sir John Everett Millais, 1st Bt, the famous Pre-Raphaelite artist.

G. W. M. Lees was s. of Joseph Dickinson Lees (1861-1940), of Whittlebury Lodge, Towcester, Northants., J.P., High Sheriff of Northants. 1918, of the family cotton manufacturing business (later 'of private means') by his wife (m. 1890) Edith, dau. of Edward Harrison Martin (1828-1889), of Bar Hill House, Madeley, Staffs., land agent.

Joseph Dickinson Lees's father was William (1823-1913), of Park Villa, Edward Street, Oldham, Lancs., master cotton spinner employing c. 400 workers; he m. 1860, Martha (1824-), dau. of Robert Dickinson.
