The prospective bride's full name is Emily Charlotte SHEPHERD-BARRON, and her birth was registered in Wandsworth in Q1 1995. Her parents are Andrew John SHEPHERD-BARRON (born 2 X 1959) and his wife (marriage registered July 1990 - Merton), Joanna Mary MARLOW (born II 1962).

Andrew Shepherd-Barron is the third and youngest son of John Adrian SHEPHERD-BARRON, OBE (23 VI 1925 - 15 V 2010) and his wife (marriage registered 1954, ref 082 / 7 - Tain), (Jane Patricia) Caroline MURRAY (22 II 1930 - 19 I 2014), of that family, of Geanies, Ross-shire, which, per Burke's Family Index, last appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry in the 1952 edition.

The late Mrs Caroline Shepherd-Barron was the youngest daughter of Sir Kenneth MURRAY, DL, JP (23 VIII 1891 - 11 IV 1979), sometime chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and his wife (married 1919), Edith Maude ("Betty") TUSTIN (1897 - 31 VII 1982). Sir Kenneth's sister, Marjorie Caroline MURRAY (19 III 1888 - 29 IV 1971), was the wife (married 23 VI 1913) of Lt Charles Frearson YOUNGER (9 IX 1885 - 21 III 1917), who was the youngest son of the 1st Viscount Younger of Leckie, and was killed in action in the First World War.

John Shepherd-Barron was the inventor of the automated teller machine (ATM), the first of which came into service in June 1967. He was the son of Colonel Wilfred Philip SHEPHERD-BARRON (né BARRON) MC, TD, LLD (2 V 1888 -1979), President of the Institution of Civil Engineers from 1953 to 1954, and his wife (married 23 IX 1921), Dorothy Cunliffe SHEPHERD (24 XI 1897 - 20 II 1953), a tennis player who competed in the Olympics in 1924.

Mrs Dorothy Shepherd-Barron's younger sister, Vera Cunliffe SHEPHERD (10 IX 1901 - II 1988), also a tennis player, was married in 1921 to (as her first husband) Captain Gerald John SHEPHERD WELLESLEY (né WELLESLEY; 31 XII 1892 - 12 XI 1940), whose great-grandfather was the eldest of the children (all of whom were born before the marriage) of Richard Colley WELLESLEY, 1st and last Marquess Wellesley KG, KP, PC, PC (Ire) (20 VI 1760 - 26 IX 1842) and his first wife (married 29 XI 1794), Hyacinthe-Gabrielle ROLAND (c.1766 - 5 XI 1816).

Maj Seaton Patrick Hayes SIMONDS (17 VIII 1921 - 10 IV 2007) was a member of that former brewing and banking family, several other branches of which have appeared in past editions of Burke's Landed Gentry. He was a fifth cousin of Gavin Turnbull SIMONDS, 1st and last Viscount Simonds, PC (28 XI 1881 - 28 VI 1971), Lord Chancellor from 1951 to 1954, the only member of a brewing family to have occupied that office. Maj Simonds' paternal grandmother, née Ellen Anne HAYES (18 VIII 1846 - 9 XII 1896), was the daughter of the Rev Sir John Warren HAYES, 3rd and last Bt (12 VIII 1799 - 23 I 1896).
