How the four surnames came to the family:

Charles Moray, of Abercariny (1746-1810), married the daughter and heiress of Sir William Stirling, of Ardoch, Bt.

Their first son inherited Abercairny, and their second son inherited Ardoch and added the Stirling name, and then eventually succeeded his brother at Abercairny.

The brothers were then succeeded by their sister, who married Henry Home-Drummond, of Blair Drummond, and while the Home-Drummond and Moray-Stirling estates separated again in the next generations, the Abercairny line retained all four surnames.

The Home-Drummonds came about when Henry Home, Lord Kames, married Agatha Drummond, eventual heiress of the Blair Drummond estate.
