From the Times of 8 Nov 2024: GROVES John Clifford died peacefully on 28th October 2024, aged 91, in Rome. Sadly missed by family and friends. A private funeral was held in Rome on 31st October.

He was only s of Brig-Gen Percy Robert Clifford GROVES CB CMG DSO 1878-1959 and Suzanne Elizabeth d of E STEEN of Oslo. He m c1958 (the Times 22 March) Flavia d of His Excellency Giorgio SPALAZZI of Rome, sometime the Italian Minister to Korea, and Donna Cecilia dei Marchesi SERAFINI. Their dau Julia Suzanne Clifford b 1960 reg Q3 Surrey m 1989 Timothy William Mungo 1956-2018 s of Maj Jonathan Mungo Palmes WALKER 1929-2012 (gt gs of Sir James WALKER 1^st Bt 1803-83) and Diana Mary 1928-2021 d of Lt Otho William NICHOLSON TD MP 1891-1978 (scion of not descended from Sir Godfrey NICHOLSON 1st & last Bt 1901-91 and his dau LP Baroness NICHOLSON OF WINTERBOURNE b 1941, as well 5xgt gs of Sir William HICKS 7^th Bt 1754-1834 (2xgt uncle of the 9^th Bt who became 1^st Earl ST ALDWYN 1837-1916)) and his 1st w Elisabeth d of Frederick C BRAMWELL of Hythe, Kent, and had two sons and a dau.
