BRUCE OF SALLOCH, Mrs Henry ((Helen) Vernon Wallop nee WILLIAM-POWLETT) (1927-2024)

Maj-Gen Alastair Bruce (Governor of Edinburgh Castle) has posted on X a message that his mother has died aged 96.  He stated she had 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was the d of Vice Adm Sir Peveril Barton Reibey Wallop WILLIAM-POWLETT KCB KCMG CBE DSO (1898-1985) scion of the Earls of Portsmouth being descended from a brother of the 2nd Earl, and (m 1923 as his 1st w) Helen Constance CROMBIE (d 1965).  

She m 1951 Lt-Cdr Henry Victor BRUCE OF SALLOCH RN (1924-2011), scion of the Earls of Elgin being the grandson of the 9th Earl

I can only see 2 great-grandchildren in DPB online although I believe Charles Talbot-Ponsonby has 2 further children Alfred and Bianca and Alexander T-P has married and has a d Abby.  If the GRO indices were available for 2022/23 further issue may be brought to light

From the Telegraph & Times of 5 April 2024: BRUCE OF SALLOCH Vernon (née William-Powlett) died peacefully after a short illness, aged 96, on 22nd March 2024. Beloved wife of the late Henry; much loved mother of Robina, Peveril, Lucinda and Alastair; grandmother to Henry, James, Alexander, Otto, Finn, Todd, Edward, Toby, Oliver, Barnaby and Harvey and 14 great grandchildren.
