2024: CAMPBELL Mary Ann (Campbell-Preston) died peacefully on Wednesday 4th
December aged 84. Beloved wife of the late Alastair Campbell of Airds, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday 10th January in
St John's Cathedral, Oban. Family flowers only please.
She was d of Lt-Col George Patrick CAMPBELL-PRESTON
MBE 1911-60 scion of that Scots gentry family of Ardchattan and Dame
Frances Olivia GRENFELL DCVO 1918-2022 (sometime Woman of the
Bedchamber to The QUEEN MOTHER, gt gd of Pascoe St Leger GRENFELL 1798-1879
f of 1st Baron GRENFELL 1841-1925, as well gt gd of 4th Baron LYTTELTON
1817-76 f of 8th Viscount COBHAM 1842-1922). She m 1960 Alastair Lorne 1937-2022
sometime Islay Herald Extraordinary s of Brig Lorne Maclaine CAMPBELL
OF AIRDS VC DSO OBE TD 1902-91 (who he succ. as) head of that Scots
gentry family of Airds and Amy Muriel Jordan 1905-50 d of Alastair Magnus CAMPBELL
of Auchendarroch 1868-1930 and Lilias Mary ROBERTSON-GLASGOW 1871-98
scion of that Scots gentry family f/o Montgreenan, and had three sons
and a dau.
