Formerly of Paddington, Late of Woollahra
Passed away peacefully after a brief illness on
6 January 2026, aged 91.
Beloved husband of Mary J.
for over 65 years.
Father to Philip, Luke, Annie and Guy.
Cherished grandfather of Jesse, Alex, Layla, Daniel, Jude and Claude.
Dearly loved father-in-law of Catherine and Richi.
Born in San Remo, Italy, Peter attended Royal Naval College Dartmouth. Achieved the rank of Leftenant [sic] Commander in the Royal Navy before emigrating with Mary J to Sydney in 1965.
A service will be held on Thursday 15th January at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, Matraville.

His wife is Mary Justine Gladstone, who descends from a brother of the first Gladstone Baronet.
Burke's [sub Gladstone] says he was son of "Marquis Raoul de Merindol". Since he was born at San Remo he may have been brother to Daria de Merindol, wife of Count Alexander Shouvalov. Daria was also born at San Remo. He may also have been brother of Melise Marie de Merindol, who married Thomas Francis Hubbard (nephew of Lord Addington). Melise is also described as "daughter of Marquis de Merindol".
