I have tried to look and see if this has been announced here, but it would appear that the Countess of Westmeath, Susanna Nugent (nee Leonard) passed away last year, July 5 2020. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3652377
While there are several lists posted here that state that the sole heirs are born in the 1960s; is there any research done into whether this is completely accurate? It is a 400 year old title this year, surely there would be others in line along the way.

According to DB 2019,  the only ones in remainder to the earldom are the earl's 2 sons, b. 1965 and 1966.  They are both shown as single with no children, so perhaps there are heirs there.

Everyone else is in remainder only to the secondary title, the barony of Delvin.

In case it is useful, here is all I have compiled on the descendants of the 3rd [5th, 14th?] Baron Delvin (d.1602), father of the 1st Earl. There do not seem to be other living male-line descendants. Most members' death dates are known, so it is unlikely (though not impossible) that they had marriages or children not reported in the usual sources.

The Austrian branch is extinct. Though I have not found death  dates for all of that branch, if there were any male descendants surviving, they would have been included in the usual German sources, and they have long been absent from them.

Christopher Nugent, 3rd Lord Delvin [I], d.1 Oct 1602; m.by 1582 Lady Mary Fitzgerald (13 Sep 1556-1 Oct 1610); note: Cokayne shows that the Delvin title was cr 1478; however, ancestors were known as “Baron of Delvin” and Burke’s Peerage 1959 calls this Christopher “14th Baron Delvin”, while a more recent Burke’s edition calls him “5th Baron Delvin”

Thanks for this.

I have this line of German/Austrian Barons as well, but have not found a reliable source showing the exact connection to the main Nugent line.

I do question the statement that the Baron title was descendible through female lines. It is possible, but extremely rare for that to happen with a German title, without a specific creation in favor of a specific female.

Here is what I have from a combination of German and English sources, but they stopped appearing in the German sources in the early 1900s, I think.

For the sake of completeness, I also have two other lines of Nugent counts. The first is a line whose connection to the main line is unknown to me.

A.
___, Gf von Nugent-Ballynacore
1.Edmund, d.1826
1.1.Jacob; m.1837 Olivia Stapleton
1.1.1.Marie Josephine
1.1.2.Richard Ernst Franz Maria (1844-    )
2.
2.1.Johann
2.2.Richard
2.3.Thomas

The second is actually a line of O'Reillys in the male line, being the family of the extant Nugent of Ballinlough Baronets.

So being created a graf in 1797, wouldn't that make him a count of the Holy Roman Empire? Debretts 2011 list the current baronet as a count of the Austrian Empire.
